Navigating Threats & Opportunities in the Great Transition
These are perilous times. Extraordinary extreme heatwaves, covid-19, a rolling sixth mass extinction, and biodiversity collapse, just for starters. Extreme income inequality and authoritarian governments in half of the world, and destabilizing, weaponized media accelerating polarisation. Not to mention the sixth continent of floating plastic and garbage in the Pacific, and the pollution of our soils and oceans with toxic agrochemicals and much else. This is the result of “Game A”, the degenerative, exclusive, hierarchical form of mono-capitalism where only money matters.
Yet, in the midst of this chaotic picture on our planet, are hundreds of thousands of pockets of the future in the present- representing various shades of “Game B”, which is characterized by regeneration, inclusivity, collaboration, and multi-capitalism which values, nature, people, and a circular economy without a particle of waste. The chaos caused by Game A is in fact the opportunity of a lifetime for innovative, disruptive creators, building out into the adjacent possible spaces from those islands of regeneration and inclusivity.
