The leap in the world of socio-technical systems has been the most obvious and dramatic we have observed in the past century, as has the cost of that leap in terms of natural and human capitals. Yet, hidden not far below the surface of our materialistic, consumer-driven global economic system, we can find another leap that is much less obvious: a transformation in the values and consciousness of a large proportion of the human race.
